Course Syllabus
Overview
This course involves a comprehensive study of the environmental health and safety practices, procedures, and laws as applied to food establishments, recreation sites, housing facilities, medical institutions, and industrial sites throughout the United States.
Requirements
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites; however, it is highly recommended that students take OSH 310 prior to enrolling in this course.
Required Resources
In week/module 5 there is an assignment to conduct a percolation test which requires the use of a shovel, and a tape measure. If there is any reason a student cannot complete the assignment contact the teacher.
Minimum Technology Required
- You will need to have a computer or mobile device to access I-Learn and Google and/or Word in order to submit your assignments.
- You will need a camera to take pictures that you can upload to I-Learn. You may use your mobile phone.
Proctored Exams and Assessments
This course may use an online proctoring software called Proctorio. This makes it possible for students to take assessments and exams without a human proctor present. Proctored exams can be accessed like any other exam, once the software has been installed. Exams will be recorded by Proctorio and reviewed by the BYUI Testing Center. Any questionable exams will be forwarded to the instructor for further review.

Learning Model
This course this applied and practical, using hands-on experiences to help you learn about environmental sanitation and water quality. You will be given opportunities to prepare, share, and prove your learning each week.
Expectations
Feedback
You can expect to receive grades and feedback within seven days of the due date for all assignments.
APA
This course uses APA as the formatting, citation, and reference standard. Assignments are graded on these standards.
Workload
Expect to work approximately nine hours in this course per week.
Group Work
No group work is done in this course.
Late Work
As a sign of professionalism and respect, you should complete your work on time. However, your instructor has the discretion to accept late work or extend due dates as appropriate.
If you do not submit an assignment or graded quiz by the due date, that assignment or quiz will automatically be given a score of zero. If you submit an assignment after the due date, you will still receive points once the assignment is graded. However, to prevent falling behind, it is best to submit your work on time or early.
Retries
Knowledge check quizzes can be taken up to three times. Only the highest score will be kept as part of your grade.

No credit is given in this course.
